The first one I gave to my dog, she kept spitting out, then picking it up again, spitting it out, over and over. At first, I thought it might just be really hard. I broke one in half with my thumbnail, and it was harder than I expected, especially since it's billed as a training treat. As I understand it, the point of a training treat is that the dog can eat it quickly and keep going. Since that first try, I've given them to her a few more times, but she really doesn't seem to care for them. All is not lost, as the dog we're dogsitting for the next week does seem to like them, but we won't be able to use up the whole bag with him. I'll keep trying with my dog, but if she still doesn't like it by the time he goes home, I will probably have to send them home with him, which is a disappointment.Dog treats come in many sizes. I usually go for the larger size treats because my dogs are medium to large in size. But even with my larger dogs, small treats can come in handy and that is why I decided to get a container of Bacon, Egg & Cheese Flavor Treats from Natural Dog Company.Packaged in a resealable pouch, these small treats can be served by the handful and that is undoubtedly the way many dog parents will serve them. You can either grab a handful and feed them directly, or even sprinkle them over your dog’s food. These treats do have more ingredients than other treats I serve my dog, but I can’t see anything on the ingredient list that jumps out as disturbing. And since the primary flavors are bacon and cheese, any dog is bound to love them. They also come in peanut butter and jelly flavor, which is also something I think my dogs would enjoy. One of my dogs is a little overweight, so I like the fact that each tiny piece of these dog treats has only a single calorie. This is good for helping her get control over her weight because even a handful of these treats still has too few calories to matter.Natural Dog Company Bacon, Egg & Cheese treats are a little smaller than expected. But small treats still have their usefulness and these treats have more than enough positive qualities to recommend them.I was excited about getting training treats for our puppies to encourage them in potty training. I cant say the puppies didnt like them, because they ate them, but they definitely had to stop and crunch them. I feel like when training dogs instant gratification is key. Good behavior or accomplishments equals something yummy you can just gobble up quickly. We might have to pass on these tiny heart shaped crunchy treats for something softer. My dog is so so so picky!! He eats these but without us seeing him, kind of like a guilty pleasure. I like to think he doesn’t want us to know he’s giving in to finally liking a treat. I don’t think I mind it!These treats are tiny, but Juniper likes them.and they work well as walk treats. They're on the softer side, but still chewy.I have included a picture of the treat next to a US quarter for size comparison. I am genuinely surprised at how hard the treats were. I was expecting them to be the softer meatier treats that I’ve gotten for my dogs before. It took my dogs some time to get used to these treats, but after a couple they seem to enjoy them. Despite their small size they are very hard and my Chihuahua seemed to be struggling to chew them.High quality training treats are hard to come by. I love that these are soft textured for little dogs and prevent against choking. Pretty good calorie intake, and nutritious. My dog loves these and wags for a little tail when I bring out the bag. If you were looking for on the go soft chewable training treats you have found them! These treats are very affordable per ounce compared to some other brands out there and are very low calorie which is nice. I like that they’re made in the US and even though it says for small dogs, I find they work just fine for our large guys. Training treats should be about this size or not much bigger anyway. These are not quite super high value for our dogs but are motivating enough in most situations. The ingredients show a low meat content and only egg and bacon so it’s possible these would work for dogs with certain protein allergies. They’re dense in texture but not dry or crunchy and they seem at least somewhat chewy. These will dry out if left unsealed or in an open container. This does have plant fillers, which is what makes them so low calorie, so I don’t see the trade off in advertising soy free. These would work well for training doggies on a diet.
